1. Kandiyohi Power Cooperative-Willmar Municipal Utility joint survey
Over the past several years, many of our customers have expressed interest in renewable energy, and in particular locally produced renewable energy. We've heard you express a variety of reasons for this interest including: reducing our reliance on fossil fuel and foreign sources of fuel, reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, and revitalizing our local economy through the retention of energy dollars and the creation of jobs in the field of renewable energy.
Kandiyohi Power Cooperative and the Willmar Municipal Utility are interested in offering customers the opportunity to invest in a pilot project for renewable, locally produced electricity. The project would be developed through potential grant funding and the investments of interested customers only. Customers who are not interested will not see a change to their billing as a result of this project.
At this time, a solar “farm” project of 60 kilowatts to be housed at one site is under consideration. There will be potential for future expansion and the ultimate size of the project will be determined by member interest. The two utilities will only proceed with this project if at least 200 customers decide to participate and project grants and other cost reductions credits can be used to make the project viable. We are therefore conducting a short survey and ask that you answer the following questions.
A final note: indicating interest by answering these questions does not commit you to participating in this program if and when it goes forward, but we hope you’ll give us an accurate assessment of your true interest.
All answers will be kept confidential and used for survey purposes only.
Thank your for taking the time to complete this survey.
