Nebraskans for the Arts Spotlight on Students Nomination Form

 

Each month, Nebraskans for the Arts will honor a Nebraska student who has made outstanding achievements in the Visual and Performing Arts. Nomination of students can be made by Nebraskans for the Arts members, upon the recommendation of teachers or school administrators.

Many people--among them parents, teachers, administrators, school board members, and policy makers--confuse the arts with entertainment. They do not understand that good programs of arts instruction benefit all students, not only the talented. They do not know that the arts: teach students to think critically, solve problems, and make thoughtful decisions; help students learn to express themselves effectively; teach students to work as part of a team; and help to improve student attendance and graduation rates.

To spread recognition of talented arts students, the honored students will be showcased individually on the website: www.nebraskansforthearts.org. The student will receive a certificate of recognition, and the student’s school principal, superintendent and state senator will be notified in hopes of increasing awareness of the importance of these students’ achievements and talents.
