1. BMCA 2010 survey
Please take a few minutes to complete this survey for the Boulevard Manor Civic Association, so the BMCA leadership can improve the effectiveness of the organization and provide the greatest benefit to the residents of the neighborhood. Your opinion matters to us and will guide us in our work.
BMCA has been involved in a number of issues affecting our neighborhood:
The Neighborhood Conservation Plan Committee (chaired by Matt Doyle) developed a consensus around aspects of our Neighborhood Conservation Plan that will transform Montague Street into a safer and more attractive roadway.
The Reevesland Committee (Larry Goldschmidt, chairman) engaged with partner organizations to investigate options for the use of the historic farmhouse on Reevesland to ensure its preservation.
A Traffic Calming working group (with BMCA Board member Paul Svercl in the lead) spearheaded efforts to prevent speeding and improve safety by working with Arlington County to implement traffic calming measures on 4th Rd. N.
The Conservation and Beautification Committee (Mike McComis, chairman) worked to clean and beautify the neighborhood entrance at Arlington Boulevard and N.
Manchester St., The committee plans additional projects; watch for opportunities to help make our neighborhood more attractive.
BMCA’s representatives to the Arlington County Civic Federation (Tony Ermovick, Tamara Gelboin, Chuck Norton, and Paul Svercl) participated in ACCF meetings and activities and maintained dialogues with other civic
associations. Future ACCF newsletters will be posted on the e‐mail list. See www.civfed.org for more information.
The Hospitality Committee (chaired by Claudia Maloney)
worked with Arlington Church of the Brethren to host yet another successful Easter Egg Hunt. The July 4 Ice Cream Social is our next family event.
The Communications Committee (Lee Dioso, chairman) revamped our web site, produced our most comprehensive newsletters ever, and updated the BMCA email list to increase the number of subscribers.
The Neighborhood Sign Committee (Steve Schwartz, chairman) worked with the county to plan installation of four neighborhood signs this summer near the entrance points to our neighborhood.
The Safety Committee (Chuck Norton, chairman) promoted disater preparedness within the neighborhood, including providing information on the BMCA website, and served as interface with the Alrington Police.
The Parks Committee (Phil Klingelhofer, chairman) maintained frequent communication with Arlington Parks Department staff regarding activities at Bluemont and Powhatan Springs parks.
