Revenue Enhancement Preference Survey

Governor Granholm’s FY 2011 state budget proposal calls for an 8% cut in funding for the Office of Services to the Aging, which provides monies for nutrition, volunteer, and in-home support services. This level of funding cut is predicated on the receipt of new revenues such as a sales tax on services and a physician tax. Without new revenues the funding cuts will grow.

The Area Agency on Aging 1-B would like to know your opinion on whether you support the generation of revenue enhancements to support state services. This survey will ask whether you support, oppose, or are neutral to selected revenue enhancement proposals that are being discussed in Lansing.

Revenue enhancements include voluntary contributions, new taxes, tax shifts from one group to another, and reducing or eliminating tax expenditures (tax breaks, loopholes or credits). Not all options are part of the Governor's FY 2011 proposal; some have garnered attention from legislators or the Governor in previous legislative sessions.

To help AAA 1-B develop an advocacy position relative to the budget debate, please take a few moments to share your preferences. Survey results will be presented to AAA 1-B Advisory Council and Board of Directors for consideration, and shared with you. We thank you very much for your time and responses.
