Introduction to Computers: learn terms and concepts, powering on/off, use of mouse, open/close programs and files, and other basic computer skills.
Organizing Computer Files: learn to make/move files to create an organized computer (good for financial information, digital photos, and other files you create on your computer). Using Flash (thumb) drives and burning CD to make backups is also covered.
Microsoft Word 2007/2010: learn basic features like creating documents; enter/edit text, printing, saving, cut/copy/paste, and basic formatting changes.
Microsoft Excel 2007/2010: learn to create, navigate and format a worksheet, create formulas, printing, sorting, and editing formulas.
Microsoft PowerPoint 2007/2010: learn basics of this presentation software like creating slides, adding effects, inserting clip art, editing, printing, and saving.
Searching with Google: learn basic searching tips and techniques, saving and managing your search results as "favorites". Also learn to use the library's online catalog to search and place materials on hold.
Introduction to Email: learn to create your own email account, create, send, reply, and forward messages, and open file attachments using Yahoo Mail.
Buying on EBay: learn to search for items, make bids, pay for items, research sellers, and setting up EBay and PayPal accounts.
Selling on EBay: learn to establish EBay and PayPal accounts, create online ads, writing descriptions of items, and photo techniques.
Working with Digital Photos: learn to transfer photos from your camera to computer, making basic changes to photos, transfer photos to online service for printing or sharing.
Introduction to Social Media: learn about the different types of internet based applications (Facebook, Twitter, My Space, LinkedIn, Blogs, Wikis, and Yelp) used to turn communication/information into interactive dialogues.
Introduction to Genealogy using Ancestry.com: learn the basics of Ancestry.com to conduct family research. Other genealogy applications are reviewed.
