Town of San Anselmo Strategic Planning 2012

The San Anselmo Town Council is seeking community input to prioritize goals for the next five years. The Council and staff, with public input, developed these goals in the areas of Infrastructure, Technology, Community Facilities, Shared Services, Financial/Budgetary Priorities, Public/Private Partnerships, Town Rules and Processes, and Business and Economic Development. This survey will be available through Monday, March 26, 2012.

Question Title

* 1. Vote for your top 10 priorities out of the 33 goals that were identified at the recent Strategic Planning meeting.

INFRASTRUCTURE: Explore strategies for increasing funding for road maintenance and drainage improvements to ensure that Town infrastructure is in good condition.

INFRASTRUCTURE: Adopt a program for median upgrades and maintenance, including Drake and Red Hill medians.

INFRASTRUCTURE:Install solar panels on public buildings and parking lots for energy efficiency.

INFRASTRUCTURE:Replace all street lights with induction-type lighting for increased energy efficiency.

INFRASTRUCTURE:Work with Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) to clarify solutions to safety and speed issues on SFD.

INFRASTRUCTURE: Work with Ross Valley Watershed program on detention facilities, improvements at Memorial Park and other flood protection strategies.

TECHNOLOGY: Implement a common permit tracking software system for Fire, Public Works, Planning and Building permitting.

TECHNOLOGY: Customize technology upgrades to fit the needs of San Anselmo.

TECHNOLOGY: Implement a technology plan for the Town to ensure technology is current and effective.

TECHNOLOGY: Implement fully automated application process for all Town permits and licenses.

COMMUNITY FACILITIES:Consider Isabel Cook Community Center remodel for Recreation offices and programming space downstairs.

COMMUNITY FACILITIES:Complete engineering and ADA retrofit of Robson House

COMMUNITY FACILITIES:Develop community facilities master plan to ensure best use of Town community facilities.

COMMUNITY FACILITIES:Consider reconfiguration of Library basement area for additional programming space.

SHARED SERVICES: Work with other members of the Marin Emergency Radio Authority (MERA) to complete a major technology upgrade of the radio system.

SHARED SERVICES: Explore sharing staff with other jurisdictions.

SHARED SERVICES: Create a Volunteer Coordinator/Event Planner position, perhaps to be shared with other jurisdictions.

FINANCIAL/BUDGETARY PRIORITIES: Create a budget advisory committee composed of one to two Councilmembers and citizens to review the Town’s financial position and make resource allocation/budget recommendations

FINANCIAL/BUDGETARY PRIORITIES: Commit Town resources to achieve a more robust and sustainable Recreation program.

BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Expand the scope of the Economic Development Subcommittee to involve a wider array of individuals with business expertise, commercial realtors, and residents.

BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Explore the creation of creating an economic development coordinator position, possibly a shared position with adjacent jurisdictions

BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: Consider blocking off a portion of San Anselmo Avenue during certain events to encourage shopping, biking, and socializing.
