NCALL National Abuse in Later Life Resource Directory Update
1. Basic Information
The NCALL National Abuse in Later Life Resource Directory is used by older victims, professionals, and others throughout the United States to locate resources and direct services that are specifically tailored to meet the needs of victims of abuse in later life. For this directory, abuse in later life can include male and female victims, age 50 and older, who are victims of domestic or sexual abuse. Domestic abuse in later life is not limited to intimate partner violence, but is defined as abuse perpetrated by someone with whom the victim has a relationship in which there is an expectation of trust. It could be a family member, friend, caregiver, or other trusted individual.
The NCALL National Abuse in Later Life Resource Directory, funded by the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), lists specialized services and housing for older victims of domestic violence and sexual assault throughout the United States. Additionally, the directory includes national and state agency sections. The National Organization section includes organizations with a focus on domestic and sexual violence, elder abuse and aging issues, and other organizations that may provide useful information for the abuse in later life field. The State Section lists tribal and state domestic and sexual violence coalitions, and state offices for adult protective services.
