A team of consultants have been appointed by Torbay Council to develop two ‘masterplans’, one for a strategic growth site at Edginswell which forms part of an area known as ‘Torquay Gateway’ and one for Torquay Town Centre. Masterplanning is the key to creating great places.

Torquay Gateway is a northern area of Torquay which includes Shiphay and Willows. The area is well connected; indeed the new South Devon Link Road will bring people directly into this gateway area. The Council’s new Local Plan identifies this area as being suitable to support growth of new housing and jobs in Torquay. The masterplan focuses on a particular area with the Torquay Gateway which has been specifically identified for new homes and employment.

Torquay Town Centre includes the harbour front, the main retail and leisure areas (inc. Fleet Street, Union Street, etc.) and up through to Torre. The masterplan area also includes a subsidiary area of focus to the west – see a map included within the exhibition boards available to download below.
