Tell us how to use Thurston County and the City of Olympia’s federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds.

Thurston County and the City of Olympia are preparing a new five-year Consolidated Plan for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). One regional plan will describe:

  • Regional HOME needs and funding for all of Thurston County
  • Regional urban county CDBG needs and funding (unincorporated Thurston County and the cities of Tenino, Bucoda, Yelm, Rainier, Lacey, and Tumwater)
  • City of Olympia CDBG needs and funding

Your responses to this survey will help determine how the region will distribute federal tax dollars for the next five years (2013–2017). All your responses are both confidential and anonymous, and you don't need to answer all the questions.

It takes only five minutes to complete the survey. Your responses will help us prioritize funding for affordable housing, economic opportunity and social service needs within the region.

Please take the survey soon; the deadline is December 20, 2012.

What is CDBG?

The CDBG program, administered by the US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, works to ensure decent affordable housing, to provide services to the most vulnerable in our communities, and to create jobs through the expansion and retention of businesses. CDBG is an important tool for helping local governments tackle serious challenges facing their communities.

What is HOME?

HOME provides formula grants to fund a wide range of activities that build, buy, and/or rehabilitate affordable housing for rent or homeownership or provide direct rental assistance to low-income people.
