What is this survey all about?

The Town and Country Planning Association (www.tcpa.org.uk) is undertaking a research project examining the development of garden cities and new towns in the United Kingdom.

The project is using surveys, interviews, and roundtables with key stakeholders in selected towns and cities to explore issues related to the delivery, finance, governance, planning, design, management and long term stewardship of the UK’s garden cities and new towns.

A Stage 1 Report was published in December 2014, which provides an overview of the Garden City and New Towns Story, and uses the latest data from the New Towns themselves, offering up a snapshot of the state of these communities today. The publication includes a main report and a “five minute” fact sheet on each of the New Towns. These reports are available here: http://www.tcpa.org.uk/pages/garden-cities-259.html

Stage 2 of the project is using selected case study New Towns and Letchworth Garden City to explore what their experience might usefully tell us to inform a new programme of Garden Cities. This stage will focus on addressing key issues facing those delivering new communities today (see page 27 of Stage 1 report for details).

Cumbernauld is one of the case study new towns we are looking at.

This survey is designed to provide a snapshot of views from people who live and work in the case study new towns, so that we might find out what you like and dislike about living or working in a new town.

The survey should take no longer than 5-10 minutes to complete.

Please complete the survey by Wednesday 22nd JULY (extended from the 17th).

If you have any questions about the survey or the study please contact Katy Lock at the TCPA on Katy.Lock@tcpa.org.uk or on 0207 930 8903
