. Title of Research Study: Undergraduate Sexual Experiences, Emotion, Self Disclosure, and Social Reactions. Investigators: Candace Marie Moreland and Laura L. Vernon, Ph.D. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the psychological effects of sexual experiences on emotion, self-disclosure, and social reactions. Procedures: You will be asked to complete a series of questionnaires measuring traumatic life experiences, sexual experiences, emotions, self disclosure, and social reactions. This will take you approximately 40-60 minutes. Those who complete the study and are a student at FAU may print a completion voucher available at the end of the experiment to turn in to participating course instructors for extra credit. Once you have completed the questionnaires, you will be informed about the details of the research. Risks: The minimal risks associated with participation in this study are no more than would be encountered in taking any type of survey or in regular daily events. Since you will be asked to think about negative life experiences, you might experience some initial distress or discomfort. Any emotional discomfort is not expected to be any worse than discussing the experience with a friend. If at any time you feel you need to take a break or discontinue participation, you may do so. You have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without penalty; For participants who are currently students at FAU, you can still receive partial experimental credit for the time you have spent participating in the study by emailing one of the researchers for a study voucher. If you are a student at FAU and would like to talk to someone about anything that might come up for you during the study, you may contact the FAU Jupiter Counseling Center at 561-799-8621 or the Boca Raton Counseling Center at 561-297-3540.
