* 1. Despite all of the warnings and public health initiatives, tobacco policy remains controversial (http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp1304513). It's very likely that our generation of physicians will be intimately involved in overhauling tobacco policy. Any students interested in the policy aspect stand to benefit from involvement at the grassroots level, that is, at the patient level.

CCC BIDMC is considering elevating smoking cessation to one of its primary chronic care foci starting this Fall.
