National Advocacy Voice for Young People with a Disability |
BACKGROUND ABOUT THE NATIONAL ADVOCACY VOICE
The Youth Disability Advocacy Service (YDAS) is a Victorian organisation that works alongside young people with disabilities between the ages of 12 and 25 to raise awareness of their rights and to support them to achieve what they want. YDAS is there for young people with disabilities who live in Victoria, but not in other places around Australia.
In September 2012, YDAS hosted the first National Youth Disability Conference in Australia. At this conference, young people said that they wanted their own National Advocacy Voice for young people with a disability who live all around Australia. YDAS is now writing a proposal to the Australian government to start up this National Advocacy Voice.
YDAS would really like your ideas to include in this proposal. The more governments know that this is something that young people with a disability want for themselves, the more likely they are to set up this National Advocacy Voice.
This is a short survey to hear how important a National Advocacy Voice would be for you and what it might look like. It is a short survey and will only take about ten minutes to do.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Bridie Hudson on nydc@yacvic.org.au or 9267 3766.
