This main goals of this meeting are (1) to assess existing and potential threats to the San Juan Mountains region posed by climate change, and (2) to develop strategies to plan for, adapt to, and reduce the effects of climate change on ecosystems and society. The 2010 Climate Conference program will include seminars, workshops, and field trips on topics such as ecosystem health, best protocols for impacts modeling, and adaptation frameworks and models.
The meeting is hosted by the Mountain Studies Institute and the San Juan Public Lands Center, in collaboration with Fort Lewis College, the University of Colorado at Boulder, the Center for Collaborative Conservation, the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Western Water Assessment.
