Background:

As part of Proposition 63, known as the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA), we are pleased to ask for your help in developing our County’s MHSA Innovations (INN) plan. MHSA provides funds to Fresno County to help expand and transform mental health care services. MHSA/INN will develop and fund new and creative strategies for improvements to the mental health care system in our County.

There are restrictions in how the INN funds can be used. Generally speaking, INN funds must be used for at least one of the following innovations:
• To develop a new and creative approach to address mental health practices
• To develop a project that contributes to learning about our system
• To create solutions for on-going, hard-to-fix problems in mental health

Innovative programs promote learning by introducing new mental health practices that have never been done before; changing current approaches; or introducing a new practice that has been successful in natural community settings that do not traditionally provide mental health care. Please also note that Fresno County’s proposed INN projects will not be able to copy programs that exist in other counties. The INN plan must be innovative. To help us develop a plan that includes your ideas, experiences, and needs we hope that you will take a few moments to answer a few questions.
