Thank you for taking the time to provide input to the Binghamton University Road Map Team for Community Engagement! The purpose of the Road Map process is to make recommendations that will enable Binghamton University to become the premier public university. Community engagement has been recognized as a critical component of that goal.
The Road Map Team for Community Engagement has accepted the following definition:
Community engagement is defined as the entire set of mutually beneficial exchanges of knowledge and resources between the university and local, regional, national, and global communities.
When planning for the future, it is important to recognize the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the entity for which you are planning. Community engagement implies that we are planning for both Binghamton University and the community.
