You have been invited to take part in a research study to learn more about the relationship between religiosity and stress among Orthodox Jews. This study is being conducted by Tzachi Fried, MA, as part of his doctoral dissertation. His faculty sponsor is Jeffrey Nevid, PhD.

If you agree to be in this study, you will be asked to complete an online survey. Participation in this study will involve approximately 20-25 minutes of your time. Your participation in this study will result in no direct benefits to yourself, but will help advance our knowledge of the manner in which religious beliefs and attributions relate to mental health. There are no known risks associated with your participation beyond those of everyday life.

After completing the survey, you will have the option of entering a drawing for one of two $50 gift cards by submitting an email address or phone number. This information will be kept strictly confidential, will be accessed only by the researcher via a password for the purpose of the drawing, and will not be connected to your responses to the survey. You can choose not to participate in the drawing, ensuring total anonymity. Following the drawing, all contact information will be permanently deleted.

Participation in this study is voluntary. You may refuse to participate or withdraw at any time. You have the right to skip or not answer any questions you prefer not to answer. If you withdraw before the end of the study you will not have the option to enter the drawing. You must be at least 18 years old to participate.

If there is anything about the study or your participation that is unclear or that you do not understand, if you have questions or wish to report a research-related problem, you may contact Tzachi Fried at 718-990-8166 or yitzchak.fried06@stjohns.edu, or the faculty sponsor, Dr. Jeffrey Nevid, at 718-990-6369 or nevidj@stjohns.edu. For questions about your rights as a research participant, you may contact the University’s Human Subjects Review Board, St. John’s University, 718-990-1440.
