1. Introduction

Dear Colleagues,

The objective of this questionnaire is to have a better understanding of the current interests of European venture capital investors in ICT SMEs (both business angels and funds), and their investment behavior. The replies received will be analyzed on an aggregate basis and individual replies will remain confidential. This questionnaire will provide the project managers with a better understanding of the different investment characteristics and preferences of venture investors and will support better communication and interaction between those investor groups (business angels, early stage and late stage venture capital funds, corporate venture funds, etc).

Investors participating in this mapping exercise will have access to a unique source of carefully selected and investment ready deal flow, carefully selected from a similar mapping carried out amongst SMEs across Europe. These companies will be post proof of concept and pre-commercial, having successfully completed EU funded Research and Development projects in a range of ICT sub-sectors and now looking for equity investment to commercialize the results. The project also offers a unique possibility of keeping up with the market trends in the ICT sector and its sub-themes. Finally, participating investors will have the opportunity to be part of a community of interest constituted by venture capital investors interested in ICT and to foster co-investment and collaboration across borders.

The three projects associated with this are:
- ACCESS-ICT led by EBAN (www.eban.org)
- VentureGate led by Paragon Europe (www.paragoneurope.eu)
- YMIR led by Teseo (www.teseo.be)

We thank you in advance for your collaboration.
