Background

There is a considerable body of information compiled on wetlands throughout Ireland, although much of this material is held locally, and is not immediately identifiable or available. Achieving a central store, in the form of an inventory, of all wetland resources available is one of the key actions identified on the work programme Irish Ramsar Wetlands Committee (IRWC).

Click here for further details about the IRWC.

Recent support from the Environmental Protection Agency Small Scale Study Grant has facilitated the initiation of a national inventory of wetland resources for Ireland. This study is being carried out on behalf of the Irish Ramsar Wetlands Committee (IRWC).

The Ramsar Convention defines wetlands as "areas of marsh, fen, peatland or water, whether natural or artificial, permanent or temporary, with water that is static or flowing, fresh, brackish or salt, including areas of marine water the depth of which at low tide does not exceed six meters".

We would be grateful if you would complete the following short questionnaire. It aims to capture details of wetland projects that have been undertaken nationally. To preview the survey questions, please see the events section of the IRWC website. Please complete one questionnaire per study.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.
