1. The Southern Tier Special Education Parent Center at the Family Resource Networks covers over 70 School Districts throughout the Southern Tier. We provide information and resources necessary: to promote your meaningful involvement in your child's educational programs; to assist parents to better understand their child's disability; to promote early resolution of disputes between families and school districts; to promote the use of resolution sessions and special education mediation; to educate families on their procedural due process rights, including the right to impartial hearings and appeals, and the State complaint system. We provide FREE workshops in your school or community. Some of our workshop topics include: Kid-in-a-Book; Teen-in-a-Book; Building an Effective Team; Understanding Procedural Safeguards; Creating and Effective IEP; and Effective Communication.
