PennSERVE State Service Plan Survey
PennSERVE: The Governor's Office of Citizen Service is the state agency for community service, volunteerism and service learning in our Commonwealth. As the oversight organization for national service in Pennsylvania, we provide support for the AmeriCorps programs and encourage civic engagement in order to improve the quality of life in Pennsylvania communities through effective volunteer service.
PennSERVE is responsible for developing a 2012-2015 State Service Plan aimed at utilizing service and volunteerism as a solution to the most pressing needs facing Pennsylvania’s communities. This plan will reflect the strategy of PennSERVE: The Governor’s Office of Citizen Service with regard to the coordination of national service and volunteer service activities across all streams of service in the state. Our goal is to ensure that all national service and volunteer service entities within the Commonwealth, including but not limited to our state commission, PennSERVE; the Pennsylvania State Office of the Corporation for National and Community Service; all Corporation grantees and stakeholders, including AmeriCorps State and National Direct programs as well as Senior Corps; State Education Agencies; The Volunteer Center Network of Pennsylvania; Pennsylvania Campus Compact; and other volunteer service organizations within the state are communicating, cooperating, and collaborating.
We recognize the importance of partnering with key stakeholders, to align with their goals and to leverage limited resources, including human capital, and therefore seek greater inclusion and closer collaboration of government entities, federal, state and local; educational institutions, including colleges, universities, K-12 public and private schools, school districts and Intermediate Units, and pre-school and Head Start programs; non-profit service organizations; communities of faith; veterans’ service organizations, volunteer connector organizations; and business corporations.
To develop this Plan, we are launching a Citizen Service Listening Tour to engage a diverse collection of voices to contribute their knowledge, ideas, concerns, and best practices to inform the State Plan.
In addition to listening sessions, we have also created the following survey so that all Pennsylvania citizens, organizations both nonprofit and for-profit, educational institutions, and any other interested parties may easily contribute to PennSERVE’s strategic plan. Please take a few moments to fill out this survey, and kindly forward the survey link to any other interested parties in your network.
Thank you for taking the time to improve community service and the quality of life in Pennsylvania.
