2010/11 RE Registration (UUCA) Survey

Every year, we ask parents to register their children for R.E. to ensure all information is current. There is NO CHARGE for Religious Education.
The church school year goes from September 19 to June 12, and our overall theme this year will be World Religions.

PLEASE NOTE:
Starting this year, the church school year will be split into trimesters: FALL (Sep 19 - Dec 5), WINTER (Jan 9 - Mar 20), and SPRING (Apr 3 - Jun 5). This way, teachers can choose to teach for one, two, or three trimesters instead of having to commit to a full year. This will make it easier for those with schedule limitations (like seasonal sports), newcomers who want to ‘try it out,’ veterans who want to attend more services, and parents who would like to teach in more than one child’s class.

6. VOLUNTEERING.
There is NO registration fee. ☺ However, our RE Program works because parents and other congregation members MAKE IT WORK by pledging money, committing their time, and sharing their talents and skills.
We ask that at least one parent/guardian from each RE family help with the program by teaching or volunteering in some other capacity. Please indicate where you would like to invest your time, talent, and/or skill this year.

Assist when there are no regular RE classes (10/31, 11/28, 12/26, 1/2, 5/29)

Be an RE Greeter

Help organize ensembles of child and youth musicians for performances during the service

Help organize the Pumpkin Carving Party (Oct 23, set up, clean-up, pizza)

Help create a Haunted House for Halloween.

Help put on the Holiday Play Dec 19 (directing, costumes, scenery)

Help organize the annual Easter Egg Hunt (Apr 24)

Assist with Middle School Fun Nights (planning, chaperoning, food, Oct 16 and spring date TBD)

Serve on the planning committee for RE Sunday (Jun 12)

To parents of middle school students: We regret that the OWL (Our Whole Lives) program originally scheduled for this year is being delayed due to the unexpected loss of both of our female teachers. The sensitive nature of this curriculum demands that there be both male and female teachers who have undergone an intensive training workshop .
If you have children in grade 6-8 this year, please indicate below if your child is potentially interested in participating when we do offer OWL.

CALENDAR REMINDERS:
+ Religious Education classes begin on September 19; the church year has its traditional intergenerational kick-off service with the "Barroom Buzzards" on September 12.
+ Please consider attending the RE Team-Building program on Wed, Sep 1 at 7pm. It is intended for teachers and prospective teachers. Childcare is provided, and the program will conclude with a campfire and s'mores.
+The annual RE Wing clean-up will take place on September 18.
