1. The first group of questions will focus on the Magnet Vision and Universal Theme.

Magnet Vision: The Cowan G/HA International Humanities Magnet School community is committed to preparing our children to view themselves as global citizens in a complex culturally, and ethnically diverse society. Our children will become reflective independent and interdependent learners through rigorous core curricula, to develop effective oral and written communicators, critical thinkers, and problem solvers.

Universal Theme: Change

When you attended Back to School Night, the Magnet meetings at the start of the school year, and/or meetings with the Magnet Coordinator were the Magnet Vision and Universal Theme clearly communicated?

2. Do you believe that teachers integrate the Magnet Vision and Universal Theme when teaching core instruction and student products.

3. Does your child’s instructional program provide opportunities to learn about the international community?

4. Has your child had opportunities (field trips, guest speakers, cultural arts presentations, virtual field trips, digital resources) to extend thematic classroom instruction beyond the classroom?

5. Do you believe that the Magnet School faculty, staff, and student body promote a sense of community?

6. The second group of questions will focus on standards-based instruction to promote student achievement.

Has the Magnet offered your child a standards-based instructional program that you believe to be more rigorous and academically challenging in accordance with the Magnet vision?

7. Does your child’s teacher communicate high expectation for academic achievement to your child and to you?

8. Does your child’s teacher, Magnet faculty, administrators, and staff encourage good citizenship, high academic, and emotional success.
