Open AustLit

PLEASE HELP US BUILD AN ‘OPEN’ FUTURE FOR AUSTLIT

In a world where people expect publicly funded research to be openly and freely available, AustLit remains a subscription service. Despite these access barriers, it receives millions of page views and answers more than 200,000 individual search queries every year.

We believe that providing free, open access to AustLit would be a 'public good' that would support teaching, research and information-sharing about Australian literary culture.
However, moving to an open access model will require new ways to sustain core services. Subscription income has allowed us to employ staff to create, update and maintain what has become a unique research and information resource.
Without that income, AustLit’s very survival would be threatened.

We are seeking testimonials to assist us with our bid for continued support from the peak Australian research library associations. Please answer a few questions and provide a statement telling us why you believe AustLit deserves their support.

Thank you.
