The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), the New Jersey Water Monitoring Council, and the New Jersey Watershed Watch Network, in cooperation with the Rutgers University EcoComplex, will be hosting the 9th NJ Water Monitoring Summit on November 28 and 29, 2012 at the Rutgers EcoComplex in Bordentown, NJ.

The Summit will cover topics applicable to a broad array of water monitoring and assessment projects and programs, including monitoring of all water body types - streams, large rivers, lakes, groundwater, wetlands, estuaries, and oceans. It will showcase projects, tools and programs that have been developed to inform local and state planning, protection, and restoration efforts.

We are also offering a Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) training during the Summit. This training will take place from 2:00-5:00pm on Thursday, November 29. There is no charge but seating is limited to 60 people, so advance registration is necessary. The training will be conducted by staff from NJDEP’s Office of Quality Assurance and will cover the steps involved in both prepartation as well as review of Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPP) for water monitoring projects. Participants will have the opportunity to practice developing as well as editing sample QAPPs and will leave with the knowledge of what information is needed in a QAPP, as well as how to effectively write and review these documents prior to submission to an approving agency (NJDEP or USEPA).

The audience for the Summit will include federal, state, interstate and local government representatives, academics, regional commissions, watershed associations, volunteers, and all other members of the water monitoring and assessment community.

PLEASE NOTE - No food will be provided. However, Box Lunches will be available at a cost or attendees may choose to bring their own lunch.
