CENSUS SURVEY FOR SHELTER DIRECTORS AND COALITIONS

1. Default Section

The National Coalition for the Homeless did a great deal of work preparing for the 2010 Census in an effort to ensure that homeless people were effectively counted. We worked with Census officials to ensure that privacy rights were protected, and to make sure that everyone sleeping in a shelter in late March 2010 was counted.

We are preparing a report to submit to the US Department of Commerce on our recommendations for improving the count for 2020. We would like to include your experiences and recommendations. We encourage you to fill out the whole survey, including the open-ended questions. It should only take 10 or 15 minutes, and we will use the results to help formulate policy recommendations.

Please complete the survey before September 30, 2010 and feel free to pass this on to others we may have missed. The results will be used to generate a report that will be posted at the National Coalition for the Homeless website at www.nationalhomeless.org.
