MSDC Disability Equality Scheme 2010 - 2013

Every council must publish a Disability Equality Scheme (DES) which sets out what the council has done, and will do, for disabled people in the area. The DES is refreshed every few years and we are currently in the process of doing this.

The scheme will be written by working directly with disabled people. To do this best we need your help and ideas and this survey is one of the ways we are collecting these ideas.

You do not need to be a disabled person to put your ideas forward - you may be a carer or have an interest in disability. What we do ask is that you are resident in the Mid Suffolk district or that you care for someone who is resident in the district.

The information from this survey will be made in to a set of priorities which will be monitored through a 3 year action plan. The actions may be carried out by the Council, people in the community or partner organisations such as Suffolk County Council or the Local Strategic Partnership. We will tell you every year what we have done and how much we have done to progress each priority action point.

By working like this together we intend to close the inequality gap for disabled people who live their lives and access services in the Mid Suffolk area.

Please fill each section with as much information as you can and if you can let someone else know about this survey and encourage them to take part, even better.

We will let you know via our Council website www.midsuffolk.gov.uk what you told us in this survey by mid October 2010.
