The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is seeking public comment regarding a land trade proposal on the Freddie Black Choctaw Island Wildlife Management Area Deer Research Area East Unit. The proposal involves exchanging a parcel of land on the extreme southern portion of the WMA surrounded by privately owned land. The area is relatively inaccessible to the public except by boat from the Mississippi River. Federal funding provided from the Pittman-Robertson Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration and North American Wetlands Conservation Acts were used to acquire this property.
In exchange for this parcel of land, the AGFC would secure a parcel of land of equal value near the Kate Adams Lake Access. This land would provide an option to secure additional public access to the Kate Adams Lake area, as well as provide an opportunity for public camping next to Kate Adams Lake.
