SLA Michigan: Speed Networking This is the online registration form for the Michigan SLA April 2011 event. Please complete the form below. Speed Networking Develop your business contacts; learn more about people who are already in your network. Speed Networking provides a structured opportunity to meet one-on-one with other people who are also looking to build and develop their networks. As you meet each other person, you will have two minutes to introduce yourself, two minutes to learn a bit about the other person, and the opportunity to collect contact information—it’s up to you to follow up and develop connections with the people you meet. Networker Ivan Misner suggests using the one-on-one time to think in terms of how you can help the other person. Bring: • Business cards • Paper for notes • Pens • Summary of what you do, what help you’re seeking, or one reason you’re building your network (2 minutes) • Curiosity, enthusiasm, desire to help Follow up: • Note something you can do for each other person (send an article, make an introduction, suggest an organization) • Send a message the next day to each other person, whether you have something to give or not • Consider connecting on LinkedIn or other social media network Speed networking is a beginning; it’s up to you what you do with that beginning.
