Dear Fairfield County Citizen:

Service to the needs of others is a personal act of sensitivity to the interdependency we share as human beings. While the goal of the Fairfield County Council is to effect positive change in the lives of citizens it serves, it is a method by which people learn and develop through active participation in thoughtfully organized service experiences. In an effort to assure that we are addressing “true” community needs, we are asking you to complete the attached questionnaire.
The 2013 Fairfield County Needs Assessment was the baseline to which we will develop the 2014 Needs Assessment Draft. We are required to conduct at least (1) Needs Assessment yearly to document our needs. Your input as a citizen is very important. We will be publishing a public hearing notice on February 28, 2014 in the Herald Independent for all Fairfield citizens to please attend the public meeting on March 10, 2014 at the Council Chambers of the Fairfield County Government Complex Building, to discuss what some of the needs facing the community are, what some of the priority needs are, and what can be done about these priority needs. All members of the community are encouraged to attend and express their concerns and perceived needs.
Attached is a survey we ask for you to please fill out completely by April 18, 2014. If you have any questions please contact: Steven Gaither, Fairfield County Grants Coordinator, P.O. Drawer 60 Winnsboro, S.C. 29180 or at (803)635-1415 ext.1042. Once completed, we will disseminate the survey results and ask for County Council’s approval. The results will be made public as soon as possible so community members and local leaders can be aware of a problem or potential problem. This will plan future actions and may create a good discussion in developing an action plan.
Community needs change over time. We want to be sure to know if, when, how and why changes are needed. Community needs assessment is really an ongoing process just like community action itself. Thank you for your participation.

Sincerely,

Steven Gaither
Fairfield County Grants Coordinator
