The National Council for Behavioral Health, in collaboration with the University of Colorado’s Behavioral Health and Wellness Program, will host a free training, September 15th in Washington D.C., for behavioral health clinicians, peer support professionals, administrators, and others interested in reducing tobacco-related illness among individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.

Through this free, interactive training, you will learn about evidence-base for treating tobacco dependence among people with mental illnesses and addictions, strategies to integrate tobacco cessation into your community behavioral health agency’s daily practices through the use of peer specialists, ways to overcome common concerns about implementing tobacco-cessation practices, and actionable steps to make your agency and/or residential treatment setting tobacco-free.

The Tackling Tobacco in Behavioral Health Settings half-day training will be held on Sunday, September 15, from 1:00–5:00 pm EDT at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The National Council's Hill Day 2013 will be held at the same location on September 16th and 17th for those who would like to attend both events.
