The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) is launching the inaugural Lake FX Summit + Expo – the largest free convention for practicing artists and creative professionals in the Midwest - on April 16-19, 2015.

This new event combines DCASE’s popular Creative Chicago Expo with previously-held industry specific summits into one large four-day program for those involved in the Film, Music, Fashion, Culinary and Art Industries. Thousands of creative individuals, business and organizations will come together for keynotes by industry leaders; panels, labs and workshops; networking; music and film showcases; the Expo Resource Fair, and a local artisan marketplace.

Use this online application to apply to be an Expo Exhibitor and/or to submit your Summit Program proposal(s). Deadline is January 16, 2015.

Expo Resource Fair:

The Expo Resource Fair component of the Lake FX Summit will run on April 17 - 18, from 10-4pm at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Expo Exhibitors are local and national businesses and organizations that provide services, information, spaces, equipment or other resources for creative artists and businesses. Past Expo Exhibitors include funders, professional associations, service organizations, chambers of commerce, space providers, recording studios, attorneys. 2015 Expo Exhibitor Fees are $500 for for-profits and $150 for non-profits. Exhibitors must attend both days.

Summit Presenters who wish to be Expo Exhibitors have their Exhibitor fees waived. Presenters and Exhibitors will be notified in January/February, 2015.

Summit Programs:
Summit Programs last one hour and take place either on Friday April 17 or Saturday April 18, 2015. They will take place at the Chicago Cultural Center or other nearby locations in the downtown Chicago Loop.

Summit Programs can include Workshops, Panels, Labs, Conversations, Presentations and Info Sessions. Programs should focus on professional development and best practices for creative businesses, individuals,and organizations, and can be discipline-specific or of general interest. Suggested topics areas include: marketing, planning, business development, space/housing, web/technology, branding, finance/fundraising, community-building. We ask that you specify whether your program is Introductory or Advanced level. Areas of concentration are Film, Music, Fashion, Culinary and Fine/Performing Art.

We are not accepting applications for food vendors or other goods. Only for Exhibitors looking to showcase their resources/services. There will be a seperate procedure for the Marketplace vendors.
