Hello!

We need your help.

We want to understand how using Doc Academy has gone down in your school/ education setting. Maybe you have just used a few clips from Doc Academy and built your own activities around it, maybe you have used a full scheme of work- either way your opinion is golden to us!

We have our assumptions but we want to find out from you what the benefits to using non-fiction film are, what you think about the film choices, how useful the lesson plans are. Is this a new style of teaching, building lessons around documentary film or have you been doing this for years? Is there a future for non-fiction film in English as the new curriculum is implemented?

So we're reaching out to educators like you.

As well as the multiple choice answers and ratings we would love to hear examples of pupils’ responses, what has happened. We have designed surveys specifically targeted for Key Stage 3-5 pupils. Each question is designed to elicit meaningful responses from pupils, enabling them to develop their analytical and evaluative skills as a follow-up to the Doc Academy lessons. If you would like a copy of your pupils’ responses to include in your own portfolio of their work, please email…

We also would love to hear the awful bits. As teachers, you are encouraged to share a positive piece of feedback first, but don’t forget to tell us where we could do better! Please hit us with your frank and constructive feedback.

Before your pupils start their survey, please make sure that they are clear which film they are responding to, as they may have watched different documentaries in yours or other classes.

Once you have finished your survey, we are also holding follow up calls and would love to chat with you! Please email docacademy@britdoc.org to arrange a time.

It will bring us a big step closer to understanding how to develop our offering to be useful for the people we most value —forward thinking educators.

Thanks so much for joining in.
