Have your say on Hunter House

You are a group or individual who may have an interest in the future of Hunter House. The museum, which was run by South Lanarkshire Council, is now closed and will be open for community bids in the near future. For the community to take on the building, we need to know what you want to do there and how it could serve your needs or support your work.

Hunter House in Calderwood is the birthplace of the famous medical pioneers, John and William Hunter. It's also one of the oldest buildings in East Kilbride and could be a great place to preserve our own social history too. It could also be a building for groups to use. Let's work together to make it a community asset to help celebrate our past and improve our future.

By completing this short survey and having your say, we will show the council that the community want to keep it, what we want to happen there and how the activities could be sustained.

WHO IS WORKING ON THIS?
We are all volunteers and members of the local community. EK Development Trust, Calderwood Community Council and the EK History Society have together expressed an interest in saving Hunter House for the community. We are also open to other groups joining together with us.

A VISION FOR HUNTER HOUSE
1. To inspire future generations to greatness by preserving and sharing the legacy of the Hunter Brothers humble beginnings.

2. To celebrate local and social histories by providing facilities and services for the people of East Kilbride to explore, exchange and showcase our community heritage.

3. To increase social cohesion, develop new skills, boost enterprise and change lives by providing a dynamic community owned local hub for Calderwood.

Thank you and please respond by 25th September 2011. Without your response we will not know if and why the community want to save Hunter House – so please do take a few minutes to do this survey.
