Leading from the Middle Academy Background

The 2015 LFM Academy will focus on:

1. Training leaders in the methods of inquiry and the use of data to inform improvements and develop planning and design strategies that contribute to transformational change

2. Developing leadership skills and strategies for colleges in key areas for improving student completion:
• Improvement of basic skills instruction
• Expansion of professional development
• Implementation of sustainable student equity programs

The full Academy program includes three face-to-face meetings, a webinar series and support from a peer-coaching network. In addition, participants will have reading assignments and they will be asked to conduct a project that applies leadership principles to an implementation project addressing one or more of the LFM above-mentioned foci at the participants’ institution.

Ideally, each application will include a team of three people, with one representative from each of the following roles:
• A faculty member or student services professional
• A middle level leader (dean, department chair, program director)
• A researcher (either from the IRP department or someone with a strong research or assessment background)

On the next page, please list the primary contact for the team as the first team member.

The cost for the Academy is $2,000 per person, which includes lodging and food for the three face to face gatherings.

The application deadline is December 1, 2014.
