Kansas Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee Membership Application
The Kansas Supreme Court is seeking four parents who are either child support payors or recipients to serve on the Kansas Supreme Court Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee. This is a responsible volunteer position serving as a voting member of the committee. It is not necessary to have an active child support case to be considered for membership on the committee.
The primary function of the Kansas Child Support Guidelines Advisory Committee is to review the general rules governing how child support is established, evaluate the economic basis of the guidelines and analyze how courts may use adjustments to tailor child support obligations to meet the needs of the family. Committee members have an integral role in making recommendations to the Kansas Supreme Court regarding modifications to the Kansas Child Support Guidelines. Members are appointed to 4-year terms and receive reimbursement for travel expenses at the same rate of reimbursement as state employees.
All applications will be reviewed and you will be contacted by phone or email if you are selected to be interviewed for further consideration. Persons selected for recommendation to the Kansas Supreme Court will go through the standard process used for selecting court volunteers, judges, and attorneys. This includes a criminal history background investigation, interviewing references, and reviewing the applicant's relevant case(s) on file with the district or municipal courts.
Applications will be accepted until all four community member positions have been filled.
Information submitted through this application process may be subject to disclosure under the Kansas Open Records Act unless exempt from disclosure pursuant to provisions of the act or as otherwise provided by federal law, state statute, or rule of the Kansas Supreme Court.
Thank you for your interest in the Kansas Child Support Guidelines.
