Childcare and Activities Survey - January 2010

Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our commitment to provided extended services within our local community of schools, we are currently looking at before and after school care provision. So that we have as much information as possible, we are consulting again with parents and carers about the kind of before and after school care you would like for your children and if there are any ways that we could improve and build on the current provision across the area.

FOR PRIMARY AGE CHILDREN - we aim to provide access to affordable Ofsted-registered childcare from 8am until 6pm, 48 weeks a year either at a school or with a nearby nursery, pre-school, children's centre or childminder. This could be a breakfast club, after school club or a study support and homework club during term time, with opportunities to access local activity clubs during the holidays.

FOR SECONDARY AGE PUPILS UP TO THE AGE OF 14 (OR 16 IF THEY HAVE SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS OR A DISABILITY)- young people should be able to access a safe place to be after school either on-site or off-site as well as study support and activity clubs.

As the range of provision we would want to provide is based on what you tell us, please could you answer the questions as fully as possible so that we can take all information into account. Each question has a free text box for you to add additional comments. If there is a particular local provider or voluntary club that you would like to recommend as providing an excellent service and good value for money, please let us know at the end of the survey.

The results of the survey will be published via your school website over the next few weeks.

Thank you for your time in completing this survey.

Kind Regards,
Di Elliot
