In late fall of 2009 a focus group was put together to explore the feasibility of legislation here in Michigan for a combined snowmobile registration/trail permit for Historic Snowmobiles. The focus group consists of 4 enthusiasts from the Antique/Vintage snowmobile hobby- ( John McGuirk, Bernie Reid, Roger Jordan and Doug Lubahn ) and 2 ranking officials from MSA- Michigan Snowmobile Association - President Jim Dickie and Executive Director Bill Manson.

The end goal of this focus group is to get some form of a Historic Snowmobile permit in place, filling a need that we all know is out there- but need everyone’s help in providing the supporting data to back up the request. We need input and information so Please take the time to complete the Michigan Historic Snowmobile survey/questionnaire – that can be found on many of the websites that support this hobby- including www.vintagesleds.com , and at many of the upcoming shows/events.

We are still in the early stages of this process, and although we will ask for specific things in the proposed legislation- we may not get all of what we ask for- but we will get something that will be a far cry from what we have in place now!
