. If you are awarded the CELI Professional Development Grant what will you use the money for and why will you use it for that purpose?
Before you answer, I would like to clarify a couple of points.
1) This grant is intended to encourage and fund teachers' professional development. Thus, money you receive from this grant can be used to pay the travel costs to international conferences, registration fees for conferences, workshops, or courses, and/or online courses or seminars. It is not intended to buy books or materials for use in your ESL classrooms.
2) In order to receive any money from the CELI Professional Development Grant, you must submit a proposal of how exactly you will use the money, and how much you will need. For example, if you would like to take a course in teaching methodology, you must provide information about when and where the course will be held, how much it will cost, and why the course is relevant to your professional development.
3) If you would like to attend a conference, you must indicate why it is important for you to attend that particular conference as well as a reasonable estimate of how much the registration, travel, and accomodation costs will be. It is not enough to say that the conference will be useful to you. You should give an explanation of what you hope to learn, how those topics are relevant to your teaching and professionalism, and how you will share what you learn with your colleagues.
4) If you have been selected to present at a conference and you want to use CELI Professional Development Grant money to travel there, please indicate which conference you will be presenting at, and what your presentation is about.
It is your responsibility to make a complete and detailed proposal, including a budget estimate, and if your proposal is accepted, you will receive funding as it is available. Please use the space below to make your proposal.
