Microjobs
Several users have asked if we are going to be adding microjobs (sometimes called micro-sourcing) to vWorker. We want know your opinion on this and learn if you would find such a feature useful or not.
What are microjobs?
-----------------------------------
Microjobs are tiny jobs (often taking less than 10 minutes) that can be done for $5. Today's microjob marketplaces work in the opposite way vWorker does. Instead of the employer posting a project, it's typically the seller who advertises what service they are willing to do for $5. Employers browse by category to find relevant or interesting help. If they can't find a service they want, then only do they post a request for the service.
What are examples of microjobs?
-----------------------------------
1) "I am a professional voice over artist and will read any prewritten script for 60 seconds",
2) "I am a designer and will create a simple but awesome banner ad for you for $5"
3) "I am an IT person and will upload any simple PHP script on your server for $5"
4) "I am an internat marketer and will give you 50 facebook likes for $5".
Why $5?
-----------
$5 is a very easy entry-level price point for many people to pay. So the seller gets lot of people willing to try them out at that price.
And for the seller, it is only 10 minutes of work, so the effective rate is $30/hour. A succesful seller also often gets lots of upsell opportunities for add-ons at higher prices, sometimes totalling thousands of extra dollars per year. Here is an article on how people are making this kind of money upselling microjobs: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/fiverr-com-changing-creative-economy-5-time-140436788.html
What else?
------------------------------
If we do implement this feature, we would also implement a filter that would hide microjobs from those who didn't want to see them.
