Service Provider Input on Issues with Managed Care
ASAP's Insurance/Managed Care Committee, and ASAP members, have had increasing discussions and inquiries related to Managed Care insurance practices, including:
Increases in co-pays being imposed on clients because SUD services are being characterized as “specialty services."
Rates of reimbursement that are below/well below their cost to treatment programs (shifting the cost to the provider and/or the state).
Denials of access to care in the face of clinical justification for that care.
ASAP would like to assist providers in combating these issues which infringe upon good access to care, reasonable reimbursement for care and fiscal viability of care provision. Please take a few moments to answer the questions below to help us gather statewide information that can be utilized in our advocacy efforts related to these issues.
Please note that we will keep all responses to this survey completely confidential, and identifying information will not be used in our shared survey results.
