Background & How to complete this questionnaire

In preparation of marking the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10) in 2011, UNV has been reviewing material on the National Committees, which existed in many countries for the IYV in 2001. A clear lesson learnt is the importance of broad national leadership for the campaign to be succesful.

In October 2009, representatives from international and regional volunteer organisations, civil society, governments and UN entities participated in a Consultative Meeting to discuss preparations to mark IYV+10.

As a result, we would like to undertake a mapping exercise of existing National Committees and other coordinating structures for volunteer involving organisations (VIO's) on national level, which could play a role in marking the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers. This would facilitate the creation of strategic and sustainable alliances and partnerships before, during and after the year.
