Qualification Levels

The qualification structures at the front of the document are described in terms of Levels 2, 3 and 4.

  • Level 2 is equivalent to:
    • An entry level job or first year apprenticeship
    • Someone who has basic skills, knowledge and understanding
    • GCSE level in England, Northern Ireland and Wales and Standard Grade level in Scotland
    • SCQF Level 5.
  • Level 3 is equivalent to:
    • Someone who has developing skills, knowledge and understanding and has a sound basic knowledge and aplication of their work
    • An A level in England, Northern Ireland and Wales and Higher/Advanced Higher level in Scotland
    • SCQF Level 6/7
  • Level 4 is equivalent to:
    • Someone who has good skills, knowledge and understanding and has a good knowledge and aplication of their work
    • Ordinary Degree level
    • SCQF Level 8/9
