Survey for family members affected by someone else's alcohol problem
Contrary to certain popular stereotypes, most people who experience problems with their drinking are people with homes and families - families which can find this very stressful and difficult to deal with. Because drinking is a normal part of life for many in Britain it can be very difficult for these families to know what to do and how to access help. The limited evidence available suggests that family members of drug users are more active in accessing support than those of drinkers but we know little of the specific, unique problems families of people with an alcohol problem experience, how they access support and what forms of support are the most helpful.
In view of this Adfam is undertaking this survey to help identify how to best help families of people with alcohol problems.
This is an important piece of work in view of the difficulties family members experience in getting help and support and we appreciate your taking the time to provide information.
The survey is entirely anonymous and information gathered will only be used to inform this piece of work. At the end of the survey there is a chance to leave you details if you would like to take part in a telephone follow-up interview to explore the issues in more depth.
Thank you.
