The Digitization in a Box Project from the South Carolina State Library will provide scanning equipment and software to public libraries and other cultural heritage entities in South Carolina. Materials scanned using this equipment will be added to the South Carolina Digital Library (and also the Digital Public Library of America) or other accessible forum online. Mandatory staff training on the equipment and digital project best practices will be provided along with limited metadata support. Participants agree to sign a permission agreement and equipment loan agreement.
Acceptable projects will follow the collection policy of the South Carolina Digital Library and generally include materials in the public domain or with permission to digitize. The content of materials should be part of your institution, of interest to South Carolinians, and support the educational, recreational, and information needs of the people of the state.
