Cultural Vibrancy

Help Shape the Future! Your input is key!

Welcome and thank you for taking the time to provide your valuable input on the cultural vibrancy of Halton Hills. Your input is key to preparing a Community Sustainability Strategy. This Strategy will be a blueprint for charting a path to a more sustainable future. A future where we can maintain and enhance our quality of life.

In addition to developing a draft vision for cultural vibrancy, the Cultural Sub-Committee is advancing three other pieces of work. First, the Sub-Committee is busy reviewing various databases in order to get a better understanding of the arts, culture, heritage, sports, recreation, and volunteer activities and resources which currently exist in Halton Hills. Ultamitley, a 'cultural map' will be produced to capture all the individuals and groups involved in the broader cultural sector.

The 'cultural map' will also provide background information for the development of a Cultural Master Plan. Our group has applied for grant funding to prepare a Cultural Master Plan.

The Cultural Sub-committee's next task will be to put forward a proposal to the Town of Halton Hills to undertake a branding exercise to further define what makes our community a great place to visit, work and live.

Finally, members of the Cultural Sub-Committee have joined the 'Holy Cross Task Group' to begin to assess the viability of this facility's conversion to a multi-use community cultural facility.

As Co-Chairs of the Cultural Sub-Committee "We are excited for the opportunity to collaborate with numerous community stakeholders and the public in developing a blueprint for a community that has a vibrant arts, culture, heritage, sports, recreation and volunteer scene."

What is cultural vibrancy and sustainability?

Cultural sustainability is about nurturing a vibrant arts and culture scene, and preserving and promoting local heritage. It is about creating many attractive public gathering places, and embracing diverse ethnic, religious, cultural and racial groups. Communities with a vibrant culture scene offer many volunteer and recreation opportunities, promote cultural celebrations and are composed of distinct neighbourhoods.
