There is a need to enhance accessibility for persons with disabilities to the Council and the work of its mechanisms, including its information and communication technology, Internet resources and documents, in accordance with international standards on accessibility for persons with disabilities (para.58 of Council resolution 16/21).
International sign-language interpretation and captioning in English were provided for two meetings listed below to enhance accessibility for persons with disabilities to the Council during its 22nd session.
- Panel discussion on 25 February 2013 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action.

In addition, a priority lane for persons with disabilities at the main Pregny Gate of the Palais des Nations in Geneva was set up and provision was made to ensure that UNOG facilities were accessible to persons with disabilities.
