Our vision is to create a community farm for the benefit of people in Tameside, Glossopdale and beyond, in order to grow food, promote health and wellbeing and provide an educational resource.
The project is still at a very early stage of development and the aim of getting in touch now is to get more people & groups involved in shaping how it might develop.
Our initial ideas for the farm include:
- offer work-based training and volunteering opportunities
- provide day care services
- training in food cultivation and sustainability skills
- a cafe or shop for members of the public to visit
- host tours for schools and youth organisations
- community allotments
This is part of a feasibility study funded by the Big Lottery Fund's Local Food scheme to enable us to work with other organisations from Tameside to develop the project. Using discussions and a series of collaborative workshops in December, we'd like to define the farm's social mission and how it will operate. That information will then be used as a basis for a sustainable business plan.
This survey will help us to find out who would like to get more involved and who would be likely to use the farm.
It should take no more than 5-10 minutes.
Our deadline for responses is Wednesday 30th November.
