With the goals of running a more effective and efficient coffee sale in the fall, we are considering a few options. The three basic proposals are:
1. Return to the method used before 2009: the town was divided into routes, students signed up to work specific four-hour shifts on three weekends in the fall (two for sales, one for delivery) during which they were driven by parent volunteers; money earned was based on time spent (including time volunteered by parents).
2. Repeat the method used in 2009: students sold on their own to neighbors, friends, family, including going to other neighborhoods, students were responsible for making their own deliveries; money was earned based on amount of coffee sold.
3. Combination of the two: the town is divided into routes (thereby providing a more even coverage of the town), students sign the routes out (individually or in pairs), being driven as necessary by parents, students deliver whatever coffee they sell; money is earned based on pounds of coffee sold.
We have surveyed the students and would also like your thoughts. Obviously the different methods require different levels of parental involvement, so that is a big factor in any decision made.
