Mnemonics and Stories - Keys to Embedding Learning!
Thursday, February, 2012 - 3-5pm at the Brecksville Public Library

Description: Inge Orendt will share some great tips for helping learners remember facts and lists of information.

We’ve all used mnemonic devices in our daily lives to help us remember things.  “Righty-tighty, lefty-loosey” when screwing in a light bulb,  “Every Good Boy Does Fine” from your piano teacher,  plus the ever useful,  “Thirty days hath September...”

Whether they are rhymes, funny phrases or acronyms, they help us turn short term memory into long term memory—a useful skill in the training classroom.
Come learn about how to create mnemonic devices when developing a course.  We’ll learn about the different types of devices as well as how to combine them with a story to make the learning even more memorable.

These techniques are especially useful to  learners when they need to learn new terminology or technical terms.  They also make the learning more fun!
